THEOLOGICAL
SYMPOSIUMS:
May 1994 (Varna -"Mission of the Orthodox Church in the Balkans today"),
May 1995 (Veliko Turnovo- "Church, Secularisation, Sectarianism")
August 1997 (Chania-on Catechism under the auspices and the participation
of His Eminence Metropolitam Irineos)-"Liturgical School" events
in Serbia and Montenegro (1994,1995,1996, 1997 and 1998)
PILGRIMAGES:
Yearly Easter Pilgrimage: Serbia (1994), Constantinople(1995), Romania(1996)
Bulgaria (1997) Central Greece(1998), southern Greece(1999), Constantinople
(2000) Since 1993, pilgrimages to Mt Athos and Holy Monasteries have been
encouraged and promoted. The help of the Holy Dioceses of Neapolis (Thessaloniki)
and Ierissos has been invaluable.
PROGRAMMES
FOR CHILDREN:
Inter Balkan schoolboy's
summer camp in co-operation with the Holy Metropolis of Levadia and Thebes
(August 1994), hospitality for 40 serbian children in Epirus (August 1995),
summer camp of young people from the Balkans and Ukraine in Kalymnos
in co-operation with the Holy Metropolis (1996), summer camp in Kalofer,
Bulgaria, financed in co-operation with the Holy Diocese of Ilia.
SEMINARS,
TRAINING COURSES:
Greek language school in Belgrade (1994-96), Byzantine Iconography in
Romania (1994, 1997,1998,1999,2000)
FRATERNISATIONS:
When and where it is needed, the B.O.Y.A. is offering to mediate between
Dioceses, Parishes, Theological Schools all over the Balkans, seeking
for communication and closer relations.
PUBLICATIONS:
With mediation of the BOYA, 4 theological books have been published in
Bulgaria and 2 cassettes with Church and folk music from the Balkans.
FESTIVALS:
Sofia,1994, under the auspices and blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch
Maxim. Romania, 1997, as a Byzantine Choir Festival. Ierissos 1998.
HUMANITARIAN
ACTIVITIES:
Two main programmes are being activated:
ALBANIA
Gathering money in order to contribute for an Orthodox Youth
Centre in Tirana.
SERBIA
Humanitarian help for the victims of the war in Bosnia Herzegovina and
the 1999 air-raids.
