4th MEETING ON CATECHISM IN THE BALKANS

The Balkan Orthodox Youth Association organised the 4th Meeting on Catechism in the Balkans under the kind hospitality of the H. D. of Neapolis and Stavroupolis in Thessaloniki, with the participation of representatives from Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Greece, from 10–14 of May.

The meeting took place in the ecclesiastical boarding house of Oraiokastro. The session opened on Monday evening with the greetings of the local Diocese’s representative, rev. Charalambos Theodossis on behalf of the BOYA Board and one representative from each country. On Tuesday morning we received the blessing of the interbalkan holy Liturgy on the occasion of the feast of sts Cyril and Methodios. The following days were dedicated to speeches and presentations of catechetic materials from the participating countries

On Thursday evening we took the chance to visit various spiritual centers of the local Holy Diocese and to be informed about their rich parochial work. The meeting closed on Friday with a one-day visit to the byzantine temples of Thessaloniki, to the Social Center “Panaghia Filanthropini” in Ormylia of Chalkidiki and the Foundation for the protection of pregnant women “St Mark” in Thermi, Thessaloniki.
